The Work Stoppage (14.04.2005)
The local organisation of ITF Kotka has informed today Thursday April 14th, 2005 that they continue the work stoppage at least till Monday, April 18th at 6.00 am. The situation in Hamina will be informed later.
We will keep you informed about the situation and are sorry for the inconvenience the action will cause to our customers.

Забастовка в порту Котка
12 апреля 2005г. стивидоры финского порта Котка проводят акцию протеста, сообщает информационный портал Newsroom Finland.
По словам исполнительного директора компании Steveco, стивидоры обращаются с требованием пересмотреть условия трудового договора.
В акции протеста примут участие 650 стивидоров порта. Забастовка продлится 24 часа. Во время проведения акции работы в порту будут приостановлены.

Докеры начали однодневнюю забастовку в порту Котка. Целью этой забастовочной акции является оказать давление на работодателей для достижения коллективного трудового договора в отрасли. Переговоры идут с трудом и самые большие разногласия касаются использования временных работников и перехода на сменную работу. Вчера министерство труда отложило начало возможной общей забастовки докеров на две недели по причине стратегической важности функционирования портов для финского народного хозяйства. Стороны продолжают поиск решения конфликта.

To speed up the negotiations for the renewal of collective labour agreements of stevedores AKT, The Finnish Transport Workers’ Union has today, without any warning, started a stoppage of work in Kotka.
This means that all port operations are stopped in Kotka.
The stoppage ends tomorrow morning at 06.00.
We regret all inconvenience this stoppage may cause to our customers and business partners.

The beginning of the stevedore strike in Finnish ports has been postponed with two weeks.

The beginning of the stevedore strike in Finnish ports has been postponed with two weeks. If the collective bargaining does not result an agreement, the strike will begin on 29th April at 06.00.
The bargaining goes on and the bargaining parties will meet each other on Thursday this week.
The ban on overtime work, which came into force in all ports on 1st April 2005, continues and affects our operations in Helsinki, Kantvik, Turku and Kotka Mussalo, so that our possibilities to offer stevedore and terminal services outside the normal working hours are still limited to their full extent.

Threatened harbour strike postponed by two weeks
Finland's Minister of Labour Tarja Filatov(SDP) decided on Monday to order the threatened harbour strike be postponed by two weeks, at the request of National Conciliator Juhani Salonius.
The stevedores of all Finnish harbours have threatened to go on strike if no results are reached by April 29th.
Last November, the Finnish Transport Workers Union (AKT) and the Finnish Port Operators' Association started negotiations for the renewal of collective labour agreements of the stevedores of all Finnish harbours.
A new meeting is scheduled for Thursday. To speed up the negotiations, the union already imposed an overtime ban at the harbours from April 1st.
The central issues of the talks include the employers' demand for more flexible working shifts and working hour models in order to achieve greater efficiency. The union demands that those roughly 200 harbour workers who are currently employed only temporarily should be given permanent jobs.
According to the employers, the strike would stop all cargo transport through Finland's public harbours.
According to the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK), a strike would cut both imports and exports by about 100 million euros a day. It would also cause disturbances in the production of Finnish industies within a few days.

Портовые грузчики начала сегодня утром забастовку. Забастовочная акция остановила движение, по меньшей мере, в портах Котка, Хамина, Хельсинки, Раума, Наантали, Оулу и Рованинеми. В портах юго-восточной Финляндии в забастовке участвуют , по крайней мере, 1 100 докеров. В Хельсинкской гавани забастовка касается Западной Гавани и гавани Сёрняс. Исполнительный директор портовых операторов Rauma Stevedoring Матти Эско говорит, что речь идет об ускорении переговоров по коллективному трудовому договору. Переговоры по коллективному трудового договору должны продолжиться сегодня.

К сожалению из-за забастовки во всех портах Финляндии, никакие грузовые операции в портах не производятся. Судно не дождавшись загрузки было отправлено в СПБ. __________________________________________________________
